SmartPM is designed to let the Project Team know what happened on each Activity everyday. In addition, the Logic Network you build in your Schedule will dictate when an Activity is ready to start. So an Activity should only be shown to start when it is really supposed to start!
All of that being said, there will be occasions when an Activity is shown to be starting on the Current Day, but work is not ready to be actually performed. In this scenario, we here at SmartPM encourage you to still fill out your Field Update for that Activity, mark it as No Work Performed, and then enter in why it hasn't started into the Impacts field.
By doing this, you will continue to build the Story of your Project and give yourself the ability to look back retrospectively to see where your impacts & delays occurred
